HIGHER YIELDS |
ONLY AVAILABLE FROM US |
Strawberries grown in hanging baskets, or containers mean better fruit, and there is no taste like true English strawberries! The worst offender with strawberries is the slug! In baskets strawberries are well out of the way ! Growing them is easier than growing summer flowers, as they can take allot of battering from the elements. All they require is lots of water and a feed every week. As seen on 'Jamie Olivers' food program on Channel 4 'Jamie at Home' this variety is very productive and if watered over winter, will produce fruit again next year! No need to refill the basket! This new strawberry is only available from us from varieties developed in the United States and Spain. |
Sold in packs of 6, these large young plants are ready for planting into hanging baskets or large pots, containers, etc. You can rest large containers on walls away from slugs. Each pack comes complete with planting and cultural instructions to give your plants the best start in life. |
Remember, they are frost hardy, so they will fruit again next year and may even produce a higher quantity of fruit |
NOT AVAILABLE AT GARDEN CENTERS ! These Strawberries should flower and fruit the first year. Fruits are borne throughout the summer and autumn and, being a perennial, plants fruit again in future years. They prefer a moist and shaded position, an advantage in itself as most gardens have such a spot normally growing nothing better. And tempting your barbecue guests on the patio will be when they see the large and luscious fruits hanging in bunches from their smart containers. Sweet, juicy, aromatic and sensibly sized (up to 2 ins.), they are dark red and are borne continuously on vigorous but compact plants from July to first frosts. As well as being great for hanging baskets, they can, of course, be grown the traditional way – in beds! All you’ll need is a cow to provide the cream! Plant ANY time of the year, except when there is a frost. If very cold weather is forecast, you can plant up into pots and grow on in an unheated conservatory or greenhouse, or sunny windowsill. If you are unfortunate enough not to produce fruit the first year, do not throw away your plants, keep them until next year when they will produce at twice the quantity of fruit the second year. Plant 3 in a 12" hanging basket or similar size pot on the patio. If planting in pots raiseslightly above the ground, to avoid the fruit getting damaged. |
